2nd week of sch
Saturday, August 16 3:16 PM

Hooray for the weekend! It's nice to be home, like always. This week, school included the start of tutorials, as well as the start of staying in hall.

This week's events:
- yay! Qi got her biz slot, so now we're gg to class tgt. Hopefully when projects start we get good group members (those guys seem ok)

- my roomie seems nice, and i've settled my basic living requirements. There's even my bottle of ribena and welcome flowers. And my friends also came over to Can2 to eat dinner and SNOW ICE ~ w me. Hall toilet is gross tho.

- jap is hard, with all the similar sounding words and writing. Writing test on this coming tues

- hall points for next year has dropped. Major boo~

- there's a baby lizard in my room. I wonder how it got in, and more importantly how it will get out. There's nothing for it to eat here anyway (mayb food crumbs?) but i'll sweep the floor next week, just in case.

- can B is much more improved (possibly better than can A) with the new layout and addition of Each-a-cup and Mr BEAN!

- thurs is horrible. Too many events, and the same mod is just as uninspiring as ever. Luckily the tut is better (altho the teacher has a damn weird sense of witty-humour). For now, I'll just focus on surviving every thurs.

bad introductory lec
Thursday, August 7 11:21 PM

I'm very happy with both my "prof R"(s) courses. I feel that although there's alot of work to be done, and effort to be put in, I actually learn new interesting things in their classes.

And in comparison, I'm extremely disappointed and unhappy with another module. I can't stand it when I sit through an entire lecture and stone. Or think up smart-alec retorts to the qns asked to the class. Or like my fren said "go into class dumb, and come out of the class just as dumb". Granted that this is the introductory lecture, I should be more forgiving. STILL I still expect some standard from even an introductory lecture (which has not enough content to suit my taste).

Unless I'm too arrogant to think I can learn nothing from the class...

*frowns*

I'm pek chek cos I wanna do something about it (like drop e course, and take something else) but like j reminded me, it's better if I think I have no choice, then won't feel so pek chek.

first lec first day of year 3
Wednesday, August 6 12:17 PM

My first lecture yesterday with prof R was a success! I didn't stone *grin* Somehow the small LT also reminded me of my stats lec with the other prof R, where it's harder to not pay attention in class.

But prof R is giving so much work for this course - readings from 2 txtbks, plus journal articles for both lec and tuts, coupled with grp presentation and an individual report - help! Knowing prof R, this amout of workload is kinda expected and unsurprising. She is someone who teaches well, and expects alot from the students in return.

So far the Ado txtbook looks nice - the cover looks interesting, small-sized bk, and interesting case stories to read. And best of all, it's a single column of words for every page (so you don't feel like you're reading twice the amount of readings). Unfortunately there are no pics to brighten it up.

Although this week is slack - only lec, no tuts - I forsee this sem is going to be hellishly hectic.
3 courses have projects, plus another language mod which needs hard work too. Hopefully things will get better mid-sem =D
I'm longing for the life of GTech ~~~

Still, it's lovely to bump into so many people I know, the juniors, seniors and friends. Hopefully I get to see more of them around the campus!

hall 16 pj party
Sunday, August 3 2:33 PM

The freshies enjoyed themselves! I think that was the best thing, and also the most important thing. Besides, the turnout this year was great, more than half came. They were grouped into their respective groups - Pavlov, CSIKSZENTMIHALYI, Freud, Harlow, Horney, Skinner, and Zimbardo. Lots of great pics were taken - on fb!

To think that so much planning is involved for a single orientation day. Makes me think how crazier it would be for all the Hall camps, etc.

Oh speaking of hall camp, Hall 16 had a pyjamas party yesterday night - heehee I sound stalker-ish.

PJ Party sounds cool, looks fun, and when it's a huge party, you get lots of ppl running around in Cotton loose pants and shirts or night dresses. Oh and a few of them carrying the assorted stuff toys - eg. red toy snake. I think the sight of 20-something year-olds running around in PJs is...interesting. Also makes me feel like having a PJ party, but nah, school's starting.
