White water rafting
Sunday, April 20 12:07 PM

I went for white water rafting today - free, sponsored by the school's international office. ain't that shiok?! My first time ever, and it was FUN. Of course we got soaked and splashed and cold, but we also screamed like banshees and laughed, and even jumped overboard into the cold water at the quieter part of the river. I luv rapids! Wish my family could have come though, they would enjoy themselves lots.

And I realised i forgot to mention that the week before, I went with friends to watch Lion King, Broadway Musical. Totally worth the usd$55. And after that one of my frens recommended Fellini's, which is a yummy cheap pizza place.

and the Menu: http://www.fellinisatlanta.com/fellinis_menu.html

And on another day, I went shopping and bought a bikini top. The top only, not the bottom half because it was already expensive + the price in usd + I can't forsee myself wearing it. I only bought the top because it looked really nice and pretty, and I'll be able to say I own a bikini (half) hahah!

Oh ya, and peeps, I'll be arriving in Singapore on may 11. Home sweet home! Although I'm sad to leave gtech and atlanta - I'll miss Everything here! I try not to think about leaving, cos it'll make me sad - but I guess there's no choice. It has been fun!
Probably will get serious jetlag when I return...so give me about a week to adjust. And to adjust to the weather/humidity too - I don't sweat here, and 20 degrees is warm to me now (perfect weather to wear shorts).
There's too much things I'll miss - food, frens, friendly helpful locals, cooking meals, weather, school, basketball, roadtrips, outings, hostel, blue skies and sunsets, etc. I'll say my goodbyes another day. =)

Mary Mac's dinner
Monday, April 14 9:28 PM

I often think that it's important to try out the local cuisine when you step into a new culture or country. Think frogs legs, snake meat, and various creepy crawlies, at least that's what I think of. But I'm only joking - foreign cuisine is unique, sometimes yummy, and most often provides an interesting experience.

Just a few night ago, the 7 of us went to Mary Mac's Tea Room, a well-known restaurant serving southern dishes. It was definitely popular with the locals too, because we arrived at 7.30, and waited for about an hour for our table - it was that packed! (and no reservations allowed).

I would say it's definitely worth bringing my parents when they come to visit me in Atlanta. We were served complimentry bread - 3 types - corn bread, yeast rolls, and cinnamon rolls. The last two types of bread were rave worthy - we had to force ourselves to stop eating in order to save stomach for the main dish. Each of us ordered a different southern speciality - ranging from Roast Turkey, Country Fried Steak, to Fried Chicken. I myself ordered Chicken and Dumplings, just because southern chicken is GOOD, and also because I was curious to see how the dumplings would turn out. It looked like dumplings you can find in s'pore, but the creamy sauce made it taste non-asian. 2 of my frens also ordered Banana Pudding for dessert, which is something I'll order when I go there to eat again.

Each main dish came with 2 sides, so it's worth it. Here's the link

..and cheers to more wonderful dinners!

Later on we walked back in the rain - everyone forgot to bring umbrellas. Poor mm got flu cos of that.

Well at last

I'm WELL, at long last. 2 weeks worth of coughing is so tedious, and I'm glad to be able to eat icecream, fried eggs and chicken at long last. Not to mention, I'm free of the horrid-foul-tasting medicine.

Just now my dad's fren (and his fren + fren's wife) took me out for a wonderful dinner...I asked mm and sharon along too. Nice Food, Nice Ambiance = Happy Full Stephie

I'm coughing, but i'm getting better~~! And I keep thinking about food, like icecream and pizza and paper-wrapped chicken. Just yesterday I took an afternoon nap, and dreamt that I was making pancakes, and eating them. Lolx
